	<title>HHS Student-Athletes Excel at Media Classic</title>
	<link>http://www.tri-cityherald.com/2012/03/19/1870503/tri-cities-sweeps-media-classic.html</link>
	<description>Tri-Cities Boys 82, Yakima 80

When the halftime stat sheet rolled off the printer, Hanford junior Joe Douglas had just two points on 1-of-4 shooting and one rebound in just under three minutes.

The Falcons&amp;apos; junior post definitely did his share of work in the second half, scoring 15 of his team-high 17 points -- seven of them over the final 3:19 -- to earn MVP honors.

&amp;quot;We had a definite size advantage, and we had some good guards feeding me inside,&amp;quot; said Douglas, a first-team all-CBBN 3A post. &amp;quot;I got a couple of lucky ones, too.&amp;quot;

There wasn&amp;apos;t anything lucky about his play in the fourth quarter, when he scored seven straight points for Tri-Cities to give his team a 78-76 lead with 1:53 left to play.

&amp;quot;I just saw something I hadn&amp;apos;t seen or heard about. He really took control of that low block,&amp;quot; said Tri-Cities coach Rolando Garcia, who leads the Columbia Basin College men&amp;apos;s team. &amp;quot;Trust me, I&amp;apos;m going to be going after him (to play basketball).&amp;quot;

Tri-Cities Girls 103, Yakima 87

CBC coach Cheryl Holden told her team to play jump and run. But the effort from her Tri-Cities girls squad had to exceed even her own lofty expectations.

&amp;quot;A lot of the Tri-City girls play that style and pressure the ball. I told them, &amp;apos;Since you&amp;apos;re only playing four minutes at a time, you might as well play as hard as you can,&amp;quot; said Holden, who recently led the CBC women to their third NWAACC title in eight years.

But there&amp;apos;s always time to enjoy good basketball.

Hanford&amp;apos;s sophomore Collette Gall scored 14 points and junior Savannah Steele chipped in 12 points for Tri-Cities.</description>
