FALCON FEVER DANCE TEAM NOTES
To be the best in the State, the Hanford Falcon Fever Dance Team adheres to a rigorous practice schedule but also makes sure to save time for team-bonding activities and fun with their friends. In addition to the team's three-four times a week practices for eleven out of the twelve months of the year, many of the dancers also take classes at local studios to improve their flexibility and technique. The practices are well worth the time, energy, and sweat, especially when those efforts bring home State titles. The team first began competing at the State level in 2005, and exploded onto the scene by claiming the State Championship titles in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 for the Jazz and Kick categories. In 2008, their astounding scores of 490 out of 500 in Jazz and 482 out of 500 in Kick made them the highest scoring team out of every category ranging from 1A to 4A classifications.
During the 2008 season, the team remained undefeated after attending competitions at both Kamiakin and Southridge. Not only have the ladies of the Falcon Fever Dance Team proven themselves to be talented and dedicated dancers, but they have also shined on the academic level. In 2008, of all the 3A classification schools, the girls on the team had the highest grade point average in Washington State and were declared the WIAA Washington State Academic Champions.
The Hanford dance team has continuously proven themselves to be the best in the State, and the team remains excited and optimistic about the 2008-2009 season. The team began their intensive training at a summer dance camp held at the University of Puget Sound, hosted by the Universal Dance Association (UDA), in July. At the camp, the team proved their dedication and ability by earning the spirit stick each day of the camp and by being chosen by another team as the recipients of the Rockstar award. Each member of the team earned all superior ribbons, making the Hanford Falcon Fever Dance Team the highest scoring team at camp. On the last day of camp the team earned a superior trophy for their overall performance, and the UDA instructors chose the Hanford dancers as the hardest working team at camp, giving them the 110% award.
Champions or not, the team has a passion for performing and loves representing their school. They support each other on every level and consider it an honor to support HHS. They appreciate all the support they have received from their family, friends, and school and look forward to carrying on the Falcon Fever legacy.
