May 2006,
Dear Parents, Alumni, Faculty, Administrators, and Falcon
Supporters,
We would like to encourage all to join the Hanford Falcons
Sports Booster Club, a non-profit 501c(3) organization, for
the 2006-07 school year. The Sports Boosters are organized
to provide financial support to the Hanford High School (HHS)
student-athletes. For example, an annual $10,000 grant is
given to the HHS Athletic Department that is spent based on
the coaches and administrators program priorities. This grant
has allowed a uniform rotation program to be implemented within
the athletic program. In addition, the Sports Boosters are
committed to providing up to $3,000 in scholarships to deserving
graduating student-athletes through the Bill Knirck Memorial
Scholarship fund. Other recent Sports Boosters activities
include the Waits field sign upgrade, subsidizing State Tournament
expenses not included in the Associated Student Body (ASB)
budget, plaques and trophies for the athletic teams, and operating
the concessions stands with half the proceeds going to HHS
clubs and activities. The Sports Boosters are truly a “school”
oriented organization as represented by their actions and
donations.
This upcoming school year has many projects on the drawing
board, such as the purchase of a blocking sled for the HHS
football program, enhancing the new Falcon Gym floor to show
case the venue as the best in the area, upgrading the Fran
Rish concessions stand, constructing a baseball storage building,
constructing a softball field house and storage building,
constructing a soccer concessions and storage building, establishing
a Hall of Fame Wall in the modernized Falcon Gym, and purchasing
lawn tractors for the baseball and softball complexes to improve
field preparation efficiencies. As you can see, there are
many opportunities to become involved and enhance the Falcon
experience for a vast spectrum of Falcon faithful.
The mechanisms to raise these funds are through the annual
Fall Falcon Classic Golf Tournament that is held at the West
Richland Golf Course; Tailgate Parties and Silent Auctions;
working at the Benton-Franklin County Fair and Rodeo; Concessions
operations; AAU Basketball League gym operators; Basketball
Pop Shoots; the annual Powder Puff Football game; and 50/50
Raffles. Booster members receive discounts on these events
along with discounted merchandise. Please sign up and join
us for a great time and visit our Sports Boosters web site
at www.hanfordfalconboosters.com for up to date Falcon schedules
and results. Thank you and GO FALCONS!!
